I tried to remember if I have ever been to a greenhouse before urban jungle obsession started. Not really, because a greenhouse of a gardening center can’t be counted. It was a fault for sure because I enjoyed every moment of Saturday trip to Lednice palace and its beautiful greenhouse.
There are not so many greenhouses in our region so Lednice was obviously the first choice as the way from Bratislava takes about one hour and the palace was built in English neo gothic style (which is a great bonus for Anglophile).
Greenhouse was built in 1845 and it looks similar to English greenhouses of that time. I have nothing to compare but I liked greatly. It was not too crowdy, not too hot (but ok, it was only +7 outside) and collection of plants was pretty nice. Atmosphere of greenhouse is just perfect for introverts: air reminds rain forest, it’s very calm and peaceful inside. I could spend some hours there easily.
Here comes some photos:
Air plants collection looked fantastic and I already want to add some new plants to mine.
What can be more beautiful than monstera? Just look at this gorgeous leaves.
All varieties of ferns. Lednice knows how to make Ferns and Cakes author happy.
Colocasia or alocasia (not sure, can anyone correct me?)
There are a few ponds there, a tiny one with guppies, a big one with Japanese koi and another pond with fountain full of golden fish.
Succulents didn’t have a lot of representatives (which was expected) but I liked this hawortia.
View of the greenhouse from the park.
And just a few pictures with exterior of the palace.
Entry ticket costs 60 czk (around 2.3 eur)
